Data Mining is a field closely associated with Machine Learning which is the process of discovering patterns in large sets of data with a goal of being able to extract relevant information and build a model to continue getting information as new data arrives. A key use of Data Mining for businesses, like Machine Learning is predicting an outcome based on new data such as property prices or what film someone is likely to watch. However, businesses can also use Data Mining techniques to analyse their data to better understand it such as looking at customer demographics, network traffic composition or even analysing service tickets to determine common pain points.
